Mom’s chunky apple sauce

You will need:

– 3 apples – I usually go with harder apples – ie pink lady, Fuji, granny smith or any combination
– 1/2 tbsp cinnamon
– Dash nutmeg
– sugar to taste ( I usually use about 1/4 cup but with Apples in season that much is usually not necessary, you may also substitute splenda, agave etc)

You may start by peeling the apples if you prefer but I find the texture is just as good with them on.

Cut apples into bite size chunks, and put into small sauce pan

Add cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar
Toss gently till combined

Once combined place on low/medium heat for 45 minutes or till apples are very soft ( but not mushy,  should hold their shape) , should have a syrup developed due to the moisture from the apples releasing.

Then serve warm.

We usually serve with pork chops for dinner. Or is great with pancakes or biscuits for breakfast. I even once stuffed it into a baked potatoe and it was pretty amazing.
